Continuing Our Intro to the 20th Century

It may seem weird that we are still “introducing” the 20th century, but if you think about it, we skipped forward some 4 1/2 thousand years.  There’s a lot to introduce.  If I were to nail down a few objectives for the rest of this class it would be these:

  • That you would learn to learn on your own.
  • That you would look at events throughout the past 100 years and make observations to the cause & effects related to it.
  • That you would draw your own conclusions and then verify/test them with your classmates and me.
  • That you would take charge of your own education, because that is truly what learning is all about.

Its not about downloading facts into your brain. Its about being able to learn on your own, without anyone’s guidance – without someone looking over your shoulder.  That’s how we stand on the shoulders of giants.

In the meantime, make sure to get that homework done.

You need to figure out the bold vocabulary words on pages 349-350.  I counted fourteen words, but you don’t have to limit yourself to just those ones.  Due tomorrow.

You can do a simple list of words with basic definition or explanation (in your own words, of course).  Or, if you want to take charge of your own learning, the way you understand the best, you can chart, graph, mindmap, etc. them.  As long as you can demonstrate your understanding, I’m happy.  Be creative.
